The BYD Seal has been named Yemen Car of the Year 2026 by the Sana'a Motor Press jury — the country's most prestigious automotive award — edging out eleven competitors in a unanimous first-round vote across the efficiency, design, and value-for-money categories.
Why the jury chose Seal
The jury panel of twelve automotive journalists evaluated twenty-three vehicles launched or significantly updated in Yemen during the 2025–2026 period. Seal earned the highest aggregate score in three of the five judged criteria:
- Powertrain efficiency — 82 kWh rear-drive variant achieved 570 km CLTC range under Yemen's mixed urban/highway test cycle
- Exterior design — Ocean Aesthetics language praised as the most cohesive design statement in the segment
- Total cost of ownership — lowest projected 5-year running cost of any sedan evaluated, factoring in local fuel and electricity tariffs
